Sewing Weekend

I took time this weekend to catch up on a little sewing. I had two minky blankets that needed topstitching and a zipper replacement that needed to be wrapped up. Additionally, I always have unfinished projects hanging around that beg for my attention. I even have projects that aren't even started, but just lie in wait. I will NEVER be out of things to sew!

I pieced the top together back in March but just finally got to quilting this one. This is a fun little quilt with elephants, monkeys, birds, frogs, lions, alligators, rhinos and giraffes. The quilt includes grays, blues, greens and oranges and would be suitable for a boy or girl. Backed with a modern gray tone-on-tone chevron print.  It is for sale in my shop!

This is one of the minky blankets that got it's topstitching. I loved the bright airplane pattern on this one. I think the red minky really complements the red in the planes.

This is half of a quilt top that has been waiting to be worked on. I will post more pics of this as it takes shape.

This little jacket got a new zipper!

It always feels good to finish things and I will keep adding to my inventory in anticipation of the holidays coming up. Stay tuned!

Jillian's Quilt

This quilt had been in process for far too long! I struggled to find a pattern I liked and then just kept putting it off. This was the final result! Super colorful, fun gray and while polka dot for the back and a green binding to tie it all together. I hope Jillian loves it!

Custom Orders

You probably already know I love custom orders! I also love when someone sees fabric I have hoarded purchased and already know they want something made from it before I know what it will become! Having a client shop my stash is a good way to make room for new fabric too!

These two blankets are shipping out tomorrow to Washington and Colorado. Owls and unicorns--does it get any sweeter than that??

New Baby Quilts

Finally finished up these two that I pieced in January! See the post here.

This one has more pink and teal.
This one has more purple and orange.

I did straight line quilting and used a gray and white herringbone fabric for the binding. I love how they turned out! You can shop here.

Welcome to the Jungle

Sometimes I need a super simple, fast project to feel like I have accomplished something. These two quilt tops fit the bill! They are very basic and came together fast. The biggest difference is the trim. They still need to be quilted and bound. I will update when that happens! After that they will be available for purchase in my shop.

Jackson's Bed Spread

Not finding what she wanted, Jackson's mamma picked out some fabric for a bedspread to coordinate with his new big boy bed. This was a custom ordered twin sized bed spread with straight line quilting.
I had to rearrange my sewing room to quilt it!

BLACK HOUSE PROJECT

I fell in love with this tote the first time I saw it and was regretting delaying my purchase when it sold out! I got lucky and finally got one for myself!

Each item is numbered and of the highest quality & workmanship. It is literally perfect--as a fellow sewer I can't help but look at every stitch, every seam and each one is beautifully perfect!

A bee in my bonnet!

Longing for Spring, I saw this bee fabric and had to have some. I fell in love with the sweet bees and the happy yellow background. After sharing a picture of it on Facebook, I had some interest in a custom blanket. Originally we had talked about making a tag blanket but settled on adding a satin trim around the edge instead.

Since this was for a little boy, I chose black and did an informal pleat all around the blanket. The black is great because it is likely little hands will be rubbing the edge--the black will show less dirt and it brings out the black in the fabric. For extra cuddles, it is backed with an ivory swirl minkee.

Jelly Roll Jam

One of my favorite fabric designers and bloggers is Vanessa Christenson of V and Co. She blogged about a Jelly Roll Jam quilt pattern that makes two baby quilts from one jelly roll. I love precuts and had a Kate Spain Cuzco jelly roll I was dying to use. I thought this was the perfect pattern!

You can get the pattern and instructions here.

Here's how mine came out.

I used the bold orange and purples in this one, while using the pinks and blues in the second one. I love how this pattern shows off many fabrics and has a patchwork feel about it while still having order. I'm not usually a fan of scrap quilts so typically this type of pattern wouldn't appeal to me.

I will straightline quilt these and then they will be available for sale in my shop!
